The US Army has received a proposal from BAE Systems for the next generation of medium tactical vehicles (FMTVs).
The contract for 12,400 vehicles and 10,900 trailers is to be delivered to the US Army from 2010 through 2014.
The FMTVs perform a variety of roles from cargo and troop carriers to artillery and air defence missile weapons carriers for the US Army.
The vehicle showed a 94% operational readiness rate during Iraq and Afghanistan operations.
The contract is scheduled to be awarded in July.
BAE has produced more than 53,000 FMTVs and trailers in 21 variants for the US Army since 1991.
