India is preparing to test launch a ballistic missile from under water, following the successful test of anti-ballistic missiles and the land version of the Agni series.
According to local media reports, the ballistic missile (SLBM) K-15 is to be test-fired from an underwater launcher, a replica of a submarine, next week.
“The missile will be fired from an underwater launcher 50m deep and about 8km from the coastline,” a defence source says.
The launcher, named Pontoon, designed by Electronics Corporation of India, will be tested with a 750km range.
