The Israeli Army has launched a new website that gives the public access to live alerts for missile attacks and forums with security experts.
The website, www.oref.org.il, in English, Arabic and Hebrew, will also provide emergency information and audio-visual instruction manuals, AFP reports.
Major General Yitzhak Gershon says the site has been launched in response to ‘lessons learned’ during last year’s 34-day war in Lebanon which caused a million residents to flee.
“The Home Front Command, which sees great importance in the relations with the Israeli population, is now in the frontline of technology,” Gershon says.
“The new website reflects the lessons learned from the Second Lebanon War.”
In Israel both the military and the government is responsible for providing services to civilians in times of war.
