Altobridge debuted its ruggedised Remote Contiguous Communications (RCC) tactical cellular system at DSEi in London today.
The RCC uses frequencies typically used by civilian mobile phone networks but provides a secure, closed-user-group service by establishing its own network independent of any local infrastructure.
The portable system combines Altobridge’s AM Gateway Platform, a standard, pico-cellular base station and a satellite transmission unit in a single carry case.
Altobridge says the system is especially suited to military or emergency situations as personnel can use their existing handsets within five minutes of the RCC being turned on.
DSEi, the biggest exhibition of military equipment and new technology, is being held in London from 11-14 September .
