A new surveillance system developed and manufactured in only three weeks has been installed in Iraq for US troops.

The Rapid Deployment Integrated Surveillance System has been developed to improve soldier’s situational awareness at joint security stations and combat outposts throughout Iraq.

The US Army’s Rapid Equipping Force and engineering and scientific firm Exponent jointly developed the system, which can be installed quickly and with minimal training.

The Army plans to install hundreds of the systems in Iraq and Afghanistan by the end of the year to maintain a persistent level of surveillance.
