The Land Warrior and Mounted Warrior communications systems, in use in Iraq for the first time, have ‘surpassed expectations’, according to the US soldiers using them.

The Land Warrior, a state-of-the-art modular fighting system that combines computers, lasers, geolocation and radios with soldier’s mission equipment to improve situational awareness, mobility, survivability and lethality, has been in use in Iraq for the past 45 days, the developer of the technology Program Executive Office Soldier says.

Soldiers using the system in Iraq told the company the system is working better in combat situations than it did in testing.

US Army Captain Mike Williams says the system provides ‘a sense of comfort’ as everyone knows exactly where everyone else is on the battlefield.
