The German Army has placed an order with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) for the assembly and delivery of 31 additional MUNGO 2 multipurpose vehicles for the special operations division (DSO).

The company delivered the first three preseries prototypes, which were qualified technically and tactically in an operational test.

The MUNGO 2 multipurpose vehicle, with a payload of 1.5t, was designed for transportation on a CH-53 transport helicopter to deliver mission-specific munitions, fuel, maintenance and NBC decontamination equipment.

The two-headed crew vehicle provides protection against ballistic, mine and improvised explosive devices threats.

Deliveries of the vehicles will be completed until 2013.

More than 400 MUNGO in the three different versions have been delivered to the German Army to date.
