The German Army has successfully deployed the Carl Zeiss Optronics Panoramic reconnaissance and surveillance system, which will detect threats in advance.
The reconnaissance and surveillance systems provide protection to the three existing German forward operating bases (FOBs) in northern Afghanistan.
The panoramic reconnaissance and surveillance systems consist of high-resolution daylight target observation and thermal imaging cameras as well as a system for situation reports.
FOBs are temporary bases to allow soldiers to carry out their duties under most difficult conditions.
The system will allow the bases to constantly monitor the situation outside the base and to detect possible movement of enemy troops and vehicles.
