Force Protection is to supply the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) with 47 Cougar Mastiff vehicles under a subcontract from Integrated Survivability Technologies (IST).
The Cougar patrol protection vehicle is designed to protect the crew and engine compartment from anti-vehicle mines and improvised munitions.
Mastiff is the UK version of the Cougar 6×6 and is armed with a 7.62mm GPMG, 12.7mm heavy machine gun or 40mm grenade machine gun.
Work under the $27.4m subcontract will be carried out in Ladson, South Carolina, US, and is expected to be complete by 31 December 2011.
IST is a joint venture between Force Protection Europe and NP Aerospace, a subsidiary of the Morgan Crucible Company.
