The US Army has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman Corporation to continue providing software development and lifecycle support for the air and missile defence workstation (AMDWS).
Under the five-year $77.9m contract, the company will provide engineering, implementation, test, site and training support to develop AMDWS capabilities.
AMDWS offers air and missile defence planning and situational awareness capabilities to the US Army and also provides a conceptual picture of air defence to warfighters.
The workstation distributes battlespace awareness information from joint headquarters, the army battle command system network, national intelligence assets, and tactical and strategic sensors.
Work on the AMDWS program will be carried out in Carson and Huntsville, Alabama, US.
The company is also the prime contractor for the development, fielding and maintenance of the AMDWS system.
