General Dynamics Land Systems has been awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to provide technical support for the US Army Abrams main battle tank programme.
The M1 Abrams is the main US battle tank designed to provide mobile fire power capable of destroying any opposing armoured fighting vehicle, while providing protection for its crew in any possible combat environment.
Work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan, US, and is estimated for completion on 19 December 2011.
The US Army Contracting Command will be the contracting activity.
