The Australian Government has given first pass approval to enhance the Australian Defence Force (ADF) telecommunications networks and ADF special operations vehicles and communications.
Under Joint Project 2047 phase 3, ADF’s fixed telecommunications networks will be significantly improved to meet capability requirements into 2020.
The government is likely to finalise the approval for the project in 2011-2012, which is cost capped between $300m and $500m.
Under Joint Project 2097 phase 1B, a modern fleet of tactical special operations vehicles will be delivered to provide significant improvements to the special forces’ networked communications.
The vehicles are highly mobile and can be transported in various ADF aircraft and ships to allow the ADF special forces to maintain its capability edge.
Project 2097 is likely to be finalised in 2013-2014 and is cost capped between $100m and $300m.
