BAE will provide its thermal weapon sights to the Canadian army to improve situational awareness and survivability of troops.
The uncooled thermal weapon sights will be integrated with Rheinmetall‘s 40mm grenade launcher’s fire control system as part of the Canadian Army’s Close Area Suppression Weapon System (CASW).
The thermal sights use MicroIR uncooled infrared sensor technology to generate superior infrared imagery without power-consuming cryogenic cooling equipment.
The thermal sights enhance weapon functionality and mission effectiveness and allow the soldier to detect, observe and engage the enemy independent of darkness and common battlefield obstacles.
The company has delivered more than 91,000 thermal sights to the US Army and its allies in Iraq and Afghanistan.
