Elbit Systems UK subsidiary Instro has been awarded a contract expansion, valued at £16m ($19.9m), to supply extra XACT nv33 Night Vision Goggles to the British Armed Forces.
The company notes that this development reinforces its role as a key NVG supplier to the military.
The contract entails a phased deployment of the night vision systems to the British Armed Forces, building on the delivery of more than 3,500 units previously supplied by Instro.
The British troops’ capacity for night operations is expected to be enhanced by the XACT nv33, which is designed for ease of use in low-light conditions.
Manufactured in Instro’s Kent facility, which serves as an Electro-Optic Centre of Excellence, these goggles are also supplied to various European nations.
The XACT nv33 is a compact, lightweight device that offers a user-friendly binocular design that can be operated with one hand.
It offers the flexibility to adjust each tube independently and features a tilt-to-activate function, allowing the operator to focus without unnecessary distraction.
Supplied in a helmet-mounted configuration, these systems have an aluminium build and comply with military standards.
Elbit Systems UK CEO Martin Fausset said: “Our success in supplying NVGs to the UK Armed Forces is a direct result of the investment we have made here in the UK.
“We are committed to providing our troops with the most advanced equipment to ensure they have operational advantage.”
This contract follows a succession of previous agreements, including a £11.5m contract in June 2021 and a subsequent follow-on contract in 2022.
