Honeywell has received a five-year contract to maintain T55-GA-714A engines that are used to power the US Army’s Chinook helicopters.
The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract encompasses repair and overhauling works to ensure the availability of spare engines for the Chinook fleet in order to support the US Army’s future missions and overall readiness.
As agreed, the T55 engines will be serviced at Honeywell’s new maintenance facility at its aerospace global headquarters in Phoenix.
The new facility will allow the company to carry out repair works of the T55-GA-714A engine at the same location where new engines are produced. It will help Honeywell to share resources between the two segments, as well as boost output.
Honeywell Engines & Power Systems president Dave Marinick said: “Honeywell remains committed to supporting the T55 engine and the CH-47F Chinook programme with improved maintenance practices, expanded repair capacities and engine modernisation improvements that will meet the helicopter’s needs for years to come.
“Honeywell’s unparalleled T55 repair and overhaul facility was designed to provide the highest level of support for the US Army’s needs today and in future missions.

The US Army uses the CH-47F Chinook helicopter for transporting troops and cargo to support domestic and foreign missions.
Honeywell has been associated with the programme to increase the horsepower of the helicopter engines. In June, the company agreed to demonstrate the T55-GA-714C engine on the US Army’s CH-47F Chinook helicopter.
