Finland and Sweden have entered an arrangement to enable joint procurement of soldiers’ weapons systems and associated technologies.
The arrangement was signed by Swedish Defence Materiel Administration Land Systems director Brigadier General Mikael Frisell on behalf of Sweden and the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command chief Major General (Eng.) Kari Renko for Finland.
Particularly, the arrangement includes guidelines for procuring small arms and associated accessories that will be used by the two countries.
Major General (Eng.) Kari Renko said: “The arrangement specifies the practical measures related to the procurement methods as well as the organisation and administration of procurements of soldiers’ weapons systems and associated technologies.
“This, indeed, shows in practice that the defence materiel cooperation between Finland and Sweden is advancing.”
Inspector of the Infantry colonel Rainer Peltoniemi said: “This arrangement provides clear guidelines for implementing the cooperation between the countries involving joint procurements, for example, of weapons and ammunition, and optronics related to the army soldiers project.
