Elbit Systems has secured a contract to supply its precise guided mortar munition (GMM), STYLET, to an undisclosed country in Asia-Pacific.

The $30m contract will be carried out over a period of two years.

STYLET has a range of 1,000m-8,500m and is a multi-mode GPS/INS guided 120mm GMM.

It has been designed for tactical combat units and special-forces and has a high accuracy of less than 10m circular error probable that offers an affordable precise solution for ground forces.

The solution is easy and quick to operate and increases the operational effectiveness of ground forces while reducing collateral damage.

“Last month, Elbit Systems won a $125m contract from the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) for the delivery of automatic self-propelled howitzer gun systems.”

Elbit Systems general manager Yehuda (Udi) Vered said: “We are proud of the introduction of this new round into our portfolio of precise guided mortar munitions. We see a growing demand for high-precision guided munitions that are also economically efficient.

“This contract award underscores the company’s significantly improved positioning in the ordnance area in general, and in the area of precise guided munitions in particular, following the acquisition of IMI Systems.”
