EDGE entity Katim has partnered with Spanish information technology and defence systems company Indra Sistemas (Indra) to boost ultra-secure communications.

The partnership will provide communication software and hardware solutions for the Spanish and Nato markets.

This announcement was made at the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Indra CEO José Vicente de los Mozo said: “This exciting partnership with Katim reinforces our commitment to providing the most advanced defence and security technologies to our partners and stakeholders.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to enhance interoperability and resilience in ultra-secure communications for both Nato and Spanish defence sectors.”

Through the collaboration, Katim and Indra seek to channel efforts to enhance secure communication technologies for an expanded defence industry clientele. Indra has a presence in more than 140 countries globally.

This tactical initiative also serves to broaden EDGE’s footprint within the defence sectors of Nato member nations.

EDGE Space and Cyber Technologies president Waleid Al Mesmari said: “This undertaking within our partnership with Indra marks a significant milestone in delivering innovative secure communication solutions to Spanish and Nato markets. By bringing together Katim’s expertise in cyber-secure communications and Indra’s extensive European defence experience, we are well-positioned to support the evolving security needs of allied nations.”

Additionally, EDGE and ELT have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the establishment of a joint venture in the UAE.

The agreement was also signed at the IDEX 2025.

It is expected to lead to the creation of a new entity focused on developing Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, including Cyber Electromagnetic Applications (CEMA).

The potential collaboration was formalised by EDGE Group managing director and CEO Hamad Al Marar and ELT Group chairman and CEO Enzo Benigni.

If successful, the joint venture would concentrate on integrating EW solutions into maritime vessels produced by EDGE Group’s maritime division, ADSB, and Maestral.

The aim of this partnership is to bolster mutual capabilities in various domains.

It intends to ensure a comprehensive approach to electronic defence, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, electromagnetic attack, homeland security, and infrastructure protection.

It is also expected to strengthen both companies’ positions as contributors to electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO) and meet the changing demands of the defence sector on a regional and international scale.

Enzo Benigni said: “This collaboration aligns with ELT’s strategy to expand partnerships within the UAE defence ecosystem by working with key players like Edge Group.

“The primary aim is to provide to UAE cutting-edge, locally developed EMSO solutions and to strengthen our position in export markets, particularly in non-Nato countries.”
