Comtech Telecommunications has received a contract from a non-US Nato military customer for compact over-the-horizon (OTH) mobile expeditionary terminal (COMET) terminals.

The latest order represents the second procurement of COMET terminals by a non-US Nato military customer and includes the supply of an undisclosed number of the systems.

Comtech Telecommunications board chairman and CEO Fred Kornberg said: “We are extremely pleased to witness the adoption of COMET by Nato partner militaries.

“We sense strong market demand for our COMET terminal and look forward to additional COMET orders in the future, from both US military and international customers.”

The latest contract has been awarded to the company’s subsidiary Comtech Systems.

Comtech Systems designs, integrates, supplies and commissions turnkey communication systems. The company produces secure wireless solutions for customers across 100 countries.

The US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has recently procured multiple COMET terminals.

In June, Comtech Telecommunications posted $139.4m net sales in the third quarter of fiscal year 2021 compared with $135.1m in last year’s same quarter.

In May, the company secured funding to continue supporting the US Army’s Blue Force Tracking (BFT) System.
