Comtech Telecommunications has received a contract from a non-US Nato military customer for compact over-the-horizon (OTH) mobile expeditionary terminal (COMET) terminals.
The latest order represents the second procurement of COMET terminals by a non-US Nato military customer and includes the supply of an undisclosed number of the systems.
The $1.7m contract was awarded during the company’s fourth quarter of fiscal year 2021.
COMET is a low-power OTH microwave troposcatter airline checkable terminal. The medium-range system can be deployed rapidly.
The company claims that the COMET terminal is suitable for scenarios where high-bandwidth backhaul communications are required.
It can be easily deployed in environments where there is no communications infrastructure or infrastructure is ruined.
