The US Department of Defense (DoD) has selected government IT solutions provider Carahsoft Technology as a facilitating partner for an enterprise-wide blanket purchasing agreement (BPA) through the military’s Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI).
Under the terms of the five-year deal, the company will function as a distributor for software and services from US-based multinational software company Red Hat, thereby delivering leading open source solutions to the government customers and re-seller partners.
With a ceiling amount of $125m, the BPA is expected to be effective through 1 April 2023.
Carahsoft Technology Open Source Solutions vice-president Natalie Gregory said: “We are pleased to have been awarded our third consecutive Red Hat ESI BPA.
“The DoD continues to expand its implementation of Red Hat’s enterprise open source technologies, which are secure, scalable and cost-effective. Red Hat’s solutions also prevent vendor lock-in, making them the perfect match to support the DoD’s and our reseller partners’ unique mission needs, use cases and changing deployments.”
Under the agreement, the company will be responsible for supporting Red Hat’s BPA award by leveraging its partner enablement, sales, marketing and contract management capabilities.
