The US Army Program Executive Officer Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) has selected digital solutions provider Black Box for the army’s engineering and modernisation programme.
Under the task order contract, the company will be responsible for development and implementation of the army’s requirements for the upgrade and implementation of the Unified Capability Sets for Outside Plant (OSP), Inside Plant (ISP) and Area Distribution Node (ADN) throughout Southwest Asia (SWA).
The total contract value over the five-year task order period is expected to reach $166.05m. The US Army has offered $18.99m initial funding.
As part of the contract, Black Box will carry out modernisation work of OSP, ISP, and Data Center infrastructure in order to bring the US Army Communications infrastructure into standard with the Defense Information Systems Network Enterprise Network (DISN-EN) Installation Campus Area Network Design & Implementation (DISN-ICAN DI) architecture.
The company will also support the implementation of the Joint Information Environment (JIE).
Black Box Government Solutions senior vice-president Jeff Murray said: “Black Box is honoured to have been selected to provide technical, management, engineering, and implementation support and solutions to help the army meet long-term infrastructure needs throughout south-west Asia.
“The infrastructures to be modernised will help improve communications capability by enabling greater stability and consistency of information delivery systems throughout the region.”
Modernisation work will be carried out at the US Army’s SWA theatre sites in the Central Command Area of Responsibility.
