BAE Systems has formed a partnership with Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace to introduce the Integrated Combat Solution (ICS), elevating battlefield capabilities for US forces.
The ICS is a situational awareness tool designed for combat vehicles, aiming to accelerate threat response times.
It provides warfighter community with the ability to link and share video streams, target information, metadata, slew-to-cue commands, and much more.
The alliance between BAE Systems and Kongsberg will see the latter developing the ICS tool while BAE will be responsible for integrating it onto combat vehicles.
The companies aim to support the technology advancements throughout the product’s lifecycle.
The ICS is a tool that serves as an enabler for the missions of the US Marine Corps and US Army’s, applicable across their vehicle fleets.

By GlobalDataBAE Systems Combat Mission Systems business vice-president and general manager Andy Corea said: “The ability for troops to rapidly pass targeting information across the battlefield to other platforms and engage a target remotely is critical to their mission.
“The combined talents of Kongsberg’s innovation and expertise in remote weapon systems and our lead systems integration capability provides the warfighter the opportunity to obtain fully integrated enhanced combat capability – helping them stay aware and unmatched in battle.”
Demonstrations of the ICS’s capabilities have already been conducted on the amphibious combat vehicle (ACV) and armoured multi-purpose vehicle (AMPV) platforms. The system also featured at AUSA 2024 this week on the AMPV.
BAE Systems and Kongsberg plan to offer this technology to ground combat forces.
With its open-systems architecture, the ICS integrates onto any battlefield platform equipped with a weapon system and on-board sensors.
This flexibility ensures that troops are kept informed and protected during combat.
The ICS empowers warfighters with a range of options to counteract threats, aligning with the dynamic nature of future warfare scenarios.
It operates by creating an integrated network that connects sensors across various battlefield assets.
This network facilitates the command and control of weapon stations, turrets, jammers, and other systems from a single screen within the vehicle.
Earlier in October 2024, BAE Systems announced the completion of a delivery of 400 two-colour Advanced Warning Systems (2CAWS) to the US Army.
This delivery is part of the Limited Interim Missile Warning System (LIMWS) programme.
