Notably, Computer and Mathematical Occupations jobs accounted for a 24% share of the global aerospace, defence and security industry’s metaverse-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, down 2% over the prior quarter.
Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive metaverse-related hiring activity
Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 24%, emerged as the top metaverse-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 2% quarter-on-quarter. Business and Financial Operations Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 51% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent metaverse roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2024, Management Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 84% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Huntington Ingalls Industries, Lockheed Martin, CAE, Hensoldt, and Northrop Grumman. Together they accounted for a combined share of 84% of all metaverse-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.
Huntington Ingalls Industries posted 934 metaverse-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Lockheed Martin 40 jobs, CAE 22 jobs, Hensoldt 22 jobs, and Northrop Grumman 20 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 88.19% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of metaverse-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 88.19% followed by Germany (2.91%) and Canada (2.67%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 85.89% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
