Management Occupations drive aerospace, defence and security industry hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 8% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the European aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024 , ahead of Computer and Mathematical Occupations with an 8% share of new job postings.

The other prominent roles included Architecture and Engineering Occupations with an 8% share in Q2 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 3% share and Production Occupations with a 3% share of new job postings.

Top five companies accounted for 42% of hiring activity

The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 42% of the overall hiring activity in the European aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024.

Thales posted 2,179 jobs in Q2 2024 and registered a decline of 34% over the previous quarter, followed by Hensoldt with 2,042 jobs and a 55% growth. Airbus, with 1,816 jobs, and Saab, with 938 jobs, recorded a 40% drop and a 21% rise, respectively, while Egis Avia recorded a 17% increase with a 909 new job postings during Q2 2024.

Regional analysis of hiring in the European aerospace, defence and security industry, Q2 2024

France held the leading share of the European aerospace, defence and security hiring activity with a 30.48% share, a 45% decrease over Q1 2024. Germany was next with 27.78%, four-percentage-point up over the previous quarter.
