The US’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 4.8% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.74% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 19.31% share in June 2022, recording an increase of 0.19% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.95% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s aerospace, defence & security industry in June 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 42.94% in June 2022, registering a 6.83% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 22.63% share, an increase of 36.26% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 22.21%, registering a 20.56% decline from May 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.45%, up 17.76% over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 10.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s aerospace, defence & security industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

General Dynamics posted 1,413 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 5334.62% over the previous month, followed by Northrop Grumman with 635 jobs and a 12.99% growth. Raytheon Technologies with 505 IT jobs and The Boeing with 488 jobs, recorded a 59.14% decline and a 19.74% decrease, respectively, while Lockheed Martin recorded a decline of 46% with 331 job postings during June 2022.

Mid Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Mid Level jobs held a share of 47.7%, down by 0.31% from May 2022. Junior Level positions with a 36.31% share, registered a decline of 8.23% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.43% share, up 15.32% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.57%, recording a month-on-month decline of 12.9%.
