The UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 4.3% rise in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 3.64% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 23.4% share in December 2021, recording an increase of 0.32% over the last three-month average share.

 

Top five job classifications in the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100.76% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry in December 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 68.56% in December 2021, registering a 29.29% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 11.74% share, an increase of 244.44% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 9.85%, registering a 44.44% rise from November 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 7.2%, down 53.66% over the previous month.

 

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 27.22% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry during December 2021 over November 2021.

Raytheon Technologies posted 120 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a rise of 144.9% over the previous month, followed by James Fisher and Sons with 29 jobs and a 19.44% drop. L3Harris Technologies with 26 IT jobs and Thales with 23 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 32.35% decrease, respectively, while The Boeing recorded a decline of 66% with 17 job postings during December 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.83%, up by 6.86% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 17.8% share, registered an increase of 42.42% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.36% share, up 20% over November 2021.
