The UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered an 8.5% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.46% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 16.01% share in June 2022, recording a decrease of 0.62% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.79% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry in June 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 40.44% in June 2022, registering a 43.88% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 35.29% share, an increase of 50% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 9.56%, registering a 43.48% decline from May 2022.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 9.56%, down 51.85% over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 27.45% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

Huntington Ingalls Industries posted 29 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 2800% over the previous month, followed by James Fisher and Sons with 21 jobs and a 47.5% drop. Raytheon Technologies with 9 IT jobs and Groupe Industriel Marcel Dassault with 8 jobs, recorded a 72.73% decline and a 33.33% growth, respectively, while Leidos Holdings recorded a decline of 68.18% with 7 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.21%, down by 52.03% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 41.18% share, registered an increase of 14.29% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 6.62% share, down 59.09% over May 2022.
