
The UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 5.7% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 8.02% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 18.75% share in August 2022, recording an increase of 1.59% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.54% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry in August 2022.
1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 31.68% in August 2022, registering a 28.09% decline over the previous month.
2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 31.19% share, a decrease of 25% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 14.85%, registering a 33.33% decline from July 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 9.41%, up 5.56% over the previous month.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 19.48% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Huntington Ingalls Industries posted 59 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 41.58% over the previous month, followed by Rolls-Royce with 17 jobs and a 10.53% drop. The Boeing with 17 IT jobs and Groupe Industriel Marcel Dassault with 17 jobs, recorded a 5.56% decline and a 750% growth, respectively, while Airbus recorded a flat growth with 14 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.98%, down by 2.78% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 43.56% share, registered a decline of 34.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.46% share, flat growth over July 2022.
