
The global aerospace, defence & security industry noticed a 4.9% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 over the previous month, led by Northrop Grumman’s 11.38% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The aerospace, defence & security industry’s overall hiring activity declined 9.87% when compared with October 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 17.4% share of the global aerospace, defence & security industry’s hiring activity in November 2022, up 0.37% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of November 2022 were 11.52% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 28.38% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive aerospace, defence & security IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 45.12% emerged as the top IT occupation in the aerospace, defence & security hiring activity in November 2022, a 14.38% decline over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in second with a share of 22.62% in November 2022, down 17.82% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with an 18.76% share in November 2022, a decline of 16.03% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 5.67% share in November 2022 and a drop of 13% over October 2022.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies by recruitment activity in November 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 10.53% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global aerospace, defence & security industry during November 2022 over October 2022.
Northrop Grumman posted 524 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a drop of 16.83% over the previous month, followed by Boeing with 519 jobs and a 14.36% decline. Lockheed Martin with 514 IT jobs and Leidos Holdings with 487 jobs, recorded a 0.98% growth and an 181.5% rise, respectively, while General Dynamics recorded a 32.1% rise with 465 job postings during November 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in aerospace, defence & security industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global aerospace, defence & security IT hiring activity in November 2022 with an 82.26% share, which marked a 7.81% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 10.9%, registering a 45.38% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 6.14% share and a 22.25% drop over October 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 0.59% and a month-on-month rise of 35%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.11%, registering a 50% decrease over the previous month.
