Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered an 8.0% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.15% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.54% share in June 2022, recording a decrease of 0.25% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.72% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry in June 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 59.02% in June 2022, registering a 29.41% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 14.75% share, a decrease of 10% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 8.2%, registering a 28.57% decline from May 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8.2%, down 16.67% over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 14.04% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

CAE posted 22 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 83.33% over the previous month, followed by Raytheon Technologies with 10 jobs and a 28.57% drop. Thales with 7 IT jobs and Teledyne Technologies with 6 jobs, recorded a 41.67% decline and a 62.5% decrease, respectively, while Airbus recorded an increase of 33.33% with 4 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 36.07%, down by 37.14% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 32.79% share, registered a decline of 35.48% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 31.15% share, flat growth over May 2022.
