The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.02% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.
Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.91% share in May 2022, recording an increase of 0.17% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.04% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry in May 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 56.86% in May 2022, registering a 43.14% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 13.73% share, a decrease of 46.15% over the previous month.
3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 11.76%, registering a 25% decline from April 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.84%, up 33.33% over the previous month.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 20% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry during May 2022 over April 2022.
Teledyne Technologies posted 11 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 45% over the previous month, followed by CAE with 9 jobs and a 47.06% drop. Thales with 9 IT jobs and The Boeing with 8 jobs, recorded a 10% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Axon Enterprise recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.98%, down by 46.94% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.41% share, registered a decline of 6.25% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 19.61% share, down 28.57% over April 2022.
