Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a flat growth in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.37% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 16.94% share in November 2022, recording an increase of 0.76% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry in November 2022.

1) Computer and Information Research Scientists recorded a share of 51.79% in November 2022, registering a 38.1% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 28.57% share, a decrease of 48.39% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.71%, registering a 70% decline from October 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.93%, down 16.67% over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 32.43% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s aerospace, defence & security industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Boeing posted 29 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a drop of 17.14% over the previous month, followed by Thales with 12 jobs and a 33.33% growth. Lockheed Martin with 4 IT jobs and Raytheon Technologies with 3 jobs, recorded a 33.33% decline and a 200% growth, respectively, while QinetiQ Group recorded a decline of 91.3% with 2 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75%, down by 19.23% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.64% share, registered a decline of 57.69% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.36% share, flat growth over October 2022.
