They are widely used in various industries for their ability to combine the benefits of both electrical conductivity and mechanical rigidity. US aerospace and defense giant Boeing is the leading patent filer in conductive composites, filing 55 patents from 2015 to 2024, which is a significant number for a specialist field. Corteva stood second, filing 36 patents.
In terms of application diversity, Mitsubishi Chemical Group also leads the pack, followed by 3M and Toray Industries. By geographic reach, Mitsubishi Chemical Group filed patents related to conductive composites in the highest number of countries, followed by Sekisui Chemical and Henkel.
