The UK aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 1.4% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 10.32% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 20.75% share in July 2021, recording decrease of 0.83% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.71% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK aerospace, defence & security industry in July 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.66% in July 2021, a 15.84% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 29.01% share, an increase of 216.67% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 13.36%, registering a 29.63% rise from June 2021.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 6.49%, up 112.5% over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in the UK IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 29.93% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK aerospace, defence & security industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

Thales posted 68 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 353.33% over the previous month, followed by Leidos Holdings with 39 jobs and a 33.9% drop. Airbus with 25 IT jobs and MBDA Holdings with 24 jobs, recorded a 108.33% growth and an 1100% increase, respectively, while Raytheon Technologies recorded a 55.1% decline with 22 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.65%, up by 32.31% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 28.63% share, a growth of 7.14% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.73% share, down 48.28% over June 2021.
