North America witnessed a 13.3% rise in IT hiring activity in the aerospace, defence & security industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2021 has seen an increase of 11.05% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 23.28% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering a decrease of 0.09% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 48.05% in August 2021, a 39.6% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in next, claiming a share of 22.09% in August 2021, marking a 70.41% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 16.44% in August 2021, a 21.99% rise from July 2021.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 7.13% in August 2021, a 34.11% rise over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 59.97% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry during August 2021 over previous month.

Raytheon Technologies posted 1,894 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 47.85% over the previous month, followed by The Boeing with 1,576 jobs and a 138.43% growth. Lockheed Martin with 770 IT jobs and Leidos Holdings with 704 jobs, recorded an 85.1% rise and a 10.2% drop, respectively, while L3Harris Technologies recorded an 83.97% increase with 631 job postings during August 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 98.14% share in August 2021, a 41.62% increase over July 2021. Canada featured next with a 1.66% share, down 28.14% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.19% share, a drop of 44% compared with July 2021.

Mid Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Mid Level jobs held a share of 44.84%, up by 31.91% from July 2021. Junior Level positions with a 37.21% share, registered a growth of 35.04% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.56% share, up 74.9% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.39%, recording a month-on-month growth of 3.7%.
