Among other products, Northrop Grumman developed the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Battle Command System (IBCS) which replaces stovepiped systems with a netcentric system. This integrates radars, sensors and weapons into a backbone capable of delivering accurate and fast firepower.

Boeing

Boeing is well-positioned in the market, capable of providing space, air, cybersecurity, and information management systems. Being also a main platform manufacturer, the company is in a position to offer integrated IoMT solutions. Along with other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Boeing offers PBL support to major armed forces deployed around the world. This is a process that would definitely benefit from IoMT in logistics.

Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin is a leading company in the aerospace and defence domain. It provides integrated solutions in the AI, C4ISR, cyber, and multi-domain fields. It is one of the main platform manufacturers of the US and allied Armed Forces.

In March 2019, LM released a new capability that allows S-92 helicopter pilots to receive real-time meteorological data directly from micro weather stations at helidecks, on a proprietary application, with the use of SATCOMs. In January 2019, it was awarded a contract by the US DoD to design and develop electronic warfare (EW) pod for use by the US Army’s Grey Eagle UAVs.

Thales

Thales is one of the biggest companies in the aerospace, defence and security sector. It provides a wide variety of interoperable IT, C4ISR, and cyber products, infrastructures, and services that support joint operations. As a leading company in the civilian domain, it can provide COTS solutions to military end-users.

In July 2018, Thales launched Nexium Defence Cloud. This is the first defence cloud for armed forces, which provides a complete end-to-end solution integrating all the devices of all the command echelons. In addition, Thales joined forces with Microsoft in order to host Nexium Defence Cloud on the latter’s Azure Stack platform.

BAE Systems

L3 Technologies has been a leading firm in the areas of autonomy, electronics, space solutions, EO/IR, and ISR.

Leonardo

Italy Leonardo from Europe is operating through subsidiaries in countries around the world. It develops and produces platforms and systems for the land, sea, air, and space domains. Therefore, it is capable of offering vertical services to its customers. In July 2018 it showcased the new Spider EW and communications intelligence (COMINT) suite. This can intercept and analyse enemy communications and share the data in real-time with other forces.

During the same period, it showcased the RIACE (Realistic Intelligent Agent Computer Environment) system as part of the Italian Air Force’s advanced training and simulation effort. The system connects various simulators to allow pilots to fly simulated missions in a networked environment.

Airbus

Netherlands Airbus offers products and services covering the needs of the air, space, land, C4ISR, and cyber domains, as well as in PBL support. In January 2019, Airbus won a contract from DARPA to develop a satellite bus for the Blackjack programme. The latter is an architecture demonstration that intends to show the military utility of low-earth orbit constellations and mesh networks of smaller weight and size commercial satellites equipped with military sensors.
