The US Army has awarded a contract to Rockwell Collins to support operational readiness of the service’s CH-47F Chinook helicopter avionics.
Under the deal, the company will deliver current component modifications and additional repair capabilities for the common avionics architecture systems (CAAS) on board the aircraft fleet.
The five-year contract has been awarded by the US Army Aviation and Missile Command Logistics Center.
Rockwell Collins rotary wing services principal programme manager Rod Hall said: “With this contract, we’re able to upgrade the first generation of CAAS hardware at substantial cost savings to the army.
“Additionally, by including repair capabilities for the latest configuration of CAAS hardware, we’re able to expand the breadth of support provided, which increases the functionality to end users.”
Developed by Rockwell Collins, the CAAS solution is adopted by the US Army as the standard for CH-47F cockpit avionics.
