The US Army Contracting Command has awarded a three-year contract, valued at $391m, to L3 Technologies for the delivery of the latest, next-generation binocular night vision goggles.
The night vision goggles will help increase mobility, targeting and manoeuvrability for the US ground forces.
L3 Technologies chairman, chief executive officer and president Christopher E. Kubasik said: “These advanced night vision capabilities reflect L3’s intense focus on developing and providing innovative technologies that make our customers better and more effective in the field.
“As the army continues to modernise to keep pace with near-peer adversaries, our agility and experience enable us to move quickly in a heightened threat environment. We are proud to deliver solutions that strengthen our collaborative partnerships and help safeguard our national security.”
The advanced enhanced night vision goggle-binocular (ENVG-B) is equipped with the L3’s high-performance white phosphor image intensification technology in a dual-tube goggle.
It also includes a separate thermal channel that can be used for image fusion and thermal target detection.
