Savi has secured a new multimillion dollar order for the delivery of last tactical mile visibility for the US Department of Defense.
The contract was awarded by an undisclosed government military contractor and supplier of products and services to military forces, intelligence agencies and defence contractors across the world.
Under the deal, Savi will deliver active radio-frequency identification (aRFID) technology powered by its ISO standard reader boards to offer visibility of military assets, extending the range of the RF-in-transit visibility network.
The ISO reader board is a small, lightweight device that can be used to detect aRFID-tagged assets up to 300ft away and relay data to the appropriate information management systems.
The company will enable armed forces to keep precise track of military and defence assets as they move through global supply chains, reducing excess inventory and saving millions of dollars.
Savi Technology government operations senior vice-president Rosemary Johnston said: “Not only are Savi’s aRFID tags custom built to function in the most rugged environments, but they also send the last known location read of in-transit assets to ops teams, information that can make the difference in a mission’s success.”
