The Czech Military Intelligence has revealed plans to open its new National Satellite Centre (SATCEN CR), which will be used for both military and civilian purposes.
The new SATCEN CR will enable Military Intelligence to fulfil its commitment to Nato to provide imagery intelligence (IMINT).

Military Intelligence brigadier general Jan Beroun said: “By opening the National Satellite Centre, we have effectively met one of our obligations to Nato and, at the same time, we will be supporting the work of the Integrated Rescue System and other Czech national institutions.”
SATCEN CR will offer intelligence support to the military units and Nato command structures.
The centre will allow the Czech Republic to become a major player in the field of space exploration in Europe and across the world.
Czech Republic Ministry of Defence Minister Karla Slechtova said: “It is not only due to the extra capabilities of this system which relays requested information in a manner of minutes. It is also proof that our specialists do not lag behind their peers in the rest of the world.
