OnTime Networks has been contracted by a Norwegian defence contractor to supply embedded military Gigabit Ethernet switches for use in a remote weapons station (RWS).

The company will supply military Cloudberry OEMbedded CM-4018F10 OEM Gigabit Ethernet switch modules under the latest deal.

The modules form a part of OnTime Networks’ OEMbedded product line, which was initially launched earlier this year to provide OEM-embedded solutions.

CM-4018F10 Gigabit Ethernet switch modules are claimed to provide IEEE 1588 PTP time synchronisation support.

"The CM-4018F8 Gigabit Ethernet switch module provides the right combination of solid common-off-the-shelve products, hardware and software, coupled with OnTime Networks’ design expertise."

OnTime Networks CTO Pål-Jørgen Kyllesø said: “The CM-4018F8 Gigabit Ethernet switch module provides the right combination of solid common-off-the-shelve products, hardware and software, coupled with OnTime Networks’ design expertise, in order to accelerate embedded product development.

“We take the greatest care in making sure both our hardware and software solutions are of the highest quality and support the latest Ethernet standards to ensure the greatest level of interoperability.”

The CM-4018F10 OEM can be modified with connector boards for additional copper and fibre ports such as connectors.

The ethernet switch has been designed to operate in the harsh climates and noisy, electrically demanding environments of military applications.

It is available in a number of different configurations such as Grand master transparent clock / slave clock switch, Standard NTP or Standard Ethernet switch.

Delivery of the contracted switch modules is expected to begin early next year.

OnTime Networks was previously contracted by a French customer in October to supply a rugged, military-grade CM-6900 1U height 19in rack mountable Gigabit / 10Gigabit Ethernet switch series for a military radar project.
