Israel-based defence AI solutions provider Axon Vision has forged a strategic alliance with Czech Republic-headquartered Czechoslovak Group (CSG).
The partnership, which includes an initial procurement, is being led by CSG’s subsidiary Retia, a defence technology firm.
This venture signifies the initial phase of an expansive strategy aimed at overhauling armoured vehicle fleets throughout Europe and capitalising on various regional prospects.
Within this partnership framework, Retia has opted for Axon Vision’s EdgeSA system, which employs AI to bolster situational awareness for the Pandur 8×8 EVO armoured vehicle and to present it to prospective global clients.
This strategic pact is the culmination of a rigorous competitive analysis where Axon Vision’s solution outperformed others across all tested parameters.
Retia’s market offering has been branded as Situational Awareness for Armoured Vehicles (SAAV), encompassing not only the EdgeSA technology but also the requisite integration services for diverse armoured vehicle types.
Retia maintains a close working relationship with Tatra Defense Vehicle (TDV), the manufacturer of multiple armoured vehicle models, including the Pandur 8×8 EVO.
Retia CEO Jan Mikulecký said: “As part of our projects, which we carry out in cooperation with other companies within the CSG group, we create products for our customers that meet the highest standards.
“To achieve this, we need reliable and top-tier partners with high-tech products. That is why we chose to collaborate with Axon Vision on the Pandur 8×8 EVO project.”
The Pandur 8×8 EVO is a modern vehicle designed to align with current technology trends.
It includes passive and active protection for the crew and vehicle, electronic and communication systems, multiple turret options with weapons, targeting and detection systems, and a powertrain.
The EdgeSA system provides armoured vehicle crews with improved battlefield perception and early warning of threats, even during closed-hatch operations.
By processing data from multiple sensors in real-time, EdgeSA aims to reduce the cognitive load on vehicle commanders and crew, automate target detection, and improve decision-making on the battlefield.
Initially centred on the Pandur fleet, the partnership is set to expand the integration of EdgeSA into additional platforms, including TDV’s Tadeas 6×6, while also exploring further opportunities across Europe.
Axon Vision CEO BG Roy Riftin said: “Our AI-powered situational awareness technology is redefining armoured vehicle operations, delivering real-time, actionable intelligence that maximizes survivability and mission effectiveness.
“This selection highlights Axon Vision’s growing presence in the European defence market and reinforces its role as an integrator of AI-driven defence solutions.”
