BAE Systems Hägglunds has contracted Swedish cybersecurity company Clavister to provide its CyberArmour products for integration into the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).
The deal, worth Skr68m ($6.77m), will see Clavister’s military-grade, AI-powered next-generation firewall, CyberArmour, deployed on CV90 vehicles that will be used in a Nordic nation.
These include CyberArmour RSG-400 and RSW-400 models, which are already in use on the CV90 platform through previous contracts.
These cybersecurity solutions are tailored to meet the demands of new military operations, ensuring secure communications, system resilience and defence against emerging cyber threats.
The latest contract spans three years, with initial deliveries expected to begin in early 2027.
There is an option for further procurement of Clavister CyberArmour products, which could increase the total value of the contract to Skr96m.
Clavister CEO John Vestberg stated: “As nations continue to expand and upgrade their CV90 fleets, they face an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape.
“Our highly integrated cyber defence solutions are designed to provide the highest level of security, ensuring the operational resilience of these critical platforms in the most demanding battlefield conditions.”
BAE Systems Hägglunds, a subsidiary of BAE Systems, is responsible for designing and manufacturing the CV90, which has been selected by several European countries for their military forces.
In December 2024, BAE Systems concluded contracts worth around $2.5bn with Sweden and Denmark for new CV90 combat vehicles.
The latest CV90 model is a digitalised platform featuring new battlefield management systems and networked capabilities.
Clavister has placed an order valued at Skr40m for MilDef’s hardware, which is designed for customised and ruggedised network equipment to be installed in the CV90 combat vehicles.
This hardware is a component of the two products in the Clavister CyberArmour suite.
MilDef CEO and president Daniel Ljunggren stated: “The intersection of our ruggedised hardware and Clavister’s leading software creates the best possible conditions for the next level of cybersecurity. We are proud to contribute together to the modernisation of European defence.”
MilDef has been a recurrent supplier for Clavister, with a Skr30m order placed in December 2024.
The company’s deliveries are expected to contribute to Clavister’s offerings for the CV90 platform, with the first series of deliveries scheduled for early 2027.
