Elbit Systems UK has concluded the System Acceptance Trials for the mobile component of the Joint Fires Synthetic Trainer (JFST) for the British Armed Forces.
The JFST system is designed to simulate realistic training environments for military personnel tasked with coordinating support fire from various platforms such as artillery, aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles, collectively known as Joint Fires Operators.

With these final trials complete, ESUK has now fulfilled its contract by supplying all six types of the JFST training platforms to the UK’s Front-Line Commands.
The British Armed Forces have now received the full suite of JFST capabilities from the company.
Prior to this, Elbit Systems UK had deployed five other configurations of the JFST system across various UK bases, including the Royal School of Artillery in Larkhill and the Air Ground Operations School at RAF Leeming.
The range of systems includes a 285-degree immersive dome for Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) training instruction and setups for both mounted and dismounted training scenarios, as well as facilities that enable group level tactical exercises.

By GlobalDataMoreover, the 285-degree dome system has achieved accreditation from both US and NATO authorities. This certification permits its use by allied forces for JTAC and joint fires training missions aimed at enhancing the proficiency of military personnel.
Since its launch in 2023, JFST has already provided more than 12,000 hours of training to British troops and NATO counterparts.
The first operational use of the mobile training component took place with the three Commando Brigade Fires Personnel in Scotland.
As additional exercises are scheduled, this suite of JFST solutions continues to offer a comprehensive virtual training experience. This allows operators to practice command and control functions without relying on actual military hardware, leading to significant cost savings across all military branches while expanding training opportunities.
