QinetiQ US has received a multi-award Aerial Target Systems 3 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, with an estimated ceiling of $95m.
The contract has been awarded by the US Army Contracting Command – Orlando, on behalf of the US Army Programme Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, Threat Systems Management Office (TSMO).
Under the ATS-3 IDIQ contract, QinetiQ US will compete for task orders to supply a range of aerial target systems, including the MQM-185B (Banshee Jet 80+).
These systems are designed to replicate aerial threats for US forces’ training and testing purposes.
The Banshee Jet 80+ uncrewed aerial vehicle is equipped with twin 40kg thrust gas turbine engines, achieves a 200m/s airspeed and an 80kg static thrust.
The contract also encompasses the development of new target technologies, systems engineering for performance enhancement, integration of advanced payloads for accurate threat replication, and software development aimed at improving autonomous capabilities.

The systems are adaptable, allowing for the rapid integration of new payloads and customisation to meet specific customer requirements.
Work stipulated by the ATS-3 contract will be carried out at various ranges and locations worldwide.

This contract follows QinetiQ’s announcement of plans to supply the US Army’s TSMO with a specially developed version of its Banshee Jet 80+ target system last year.
