The US Marine Corps has awarded BAE Systems a US$58m contract modification for Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle test support.
BAE says the contract supports the MRAP Expedient Armour Programme’s testing of the Caiman vehicle to counter the threat of explosively formed penetrators, including modelling and simulation, prototype testing and re-testing of design solutions to react to evolving threats.
BAE will supply and produce additional armour protection and replacement parts, assist in the test and evaluation of these products, and work with the test community to complete the final operational test and evaluation.
Work is expected to be complete by September 2008.
