Notably, Computer and Mathematical Occupations jobs accounted for a 31% share of the global aerospace, defence and security industry’s cybersecurity-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, down 4% over the prior quarter.
Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive cybersecurity-related hiring activity
Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 31%, emerged as the top cybersecurity-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 4% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 9% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 2% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent cybersecurity roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 6% share in Q2 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 44% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, RTX, Rohde & Schwarz, and Leidos. Together they accounted for a combined share of 44% of all cybersecurity-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.
General Dynamics posted 938 cybersecurity-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Lockheed Martin 657 jobs, RTX 621 jobs, Rohde & Schwarz 621 jobs, and Leidos 365 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 69.60% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of cybersecurity-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 69.60% followed by Germany (10.41%) and India (4.77%). The share represented by the US was 0 percentage points higher than the 69.28% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
