General Dynamics European Land Systems and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann have unveiled the first prototype of the 155mm artillery system DONAR at Eurosatory in Paris.
Both companies recently announced a teaming agreement to jointly develop and market a new generation, air deployable, autonomous and remotely operated 155mm artillery system.
DONAR is designed to reduce crew and logistics requirements, General Dynamics European Land Systems president John Ulrich said.
The prototype has already undergone mobility and fire trials at the test facility of German procurement agency BWB, in Paris, France.
The total system weights less than 31t and can be completely remotely operated.
Ulrich said both companies already had a history of collaboration of different projects which allowed them to combine efforts and the DONAR project was born about one and a half years ago.
