Northrop Grumman has announced a new armada of Bat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
The Bat systems will have wingspans ranging from 6.5ft to 33.2ft and offer surveillance, communications and strike capabilities.
The Bat UAS product line, formerly known as KillerBee, was recently acquired by Northrop Grumman from Swift Engineering.
Northrop Grumman is engaging Swift Engineering to continue to work on design refinement, product line development, flight test support and manufacturing. Product development will be managed by Northrop Grumman’s aerospace systems sector.
Vice president of advanced concepts-air and land systems for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Corey Moore said that the UAVs are ideally suited to today’s battle environment.
“The Bat family of small unmanned air systems will be ideally suited to today’s irregular warfare environment, offering real-time ISR, communications relay and strike capabilities,” said Moore.
