The US Army has awarded a $228m contract to Force Protection to install redesigned TAK-4 independent suspension kits in 1,317 Cougar Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles.
The high-performance mobility upgrade package will be performed by field service representatives of Force Protection and Oshkosh Corporation, which has subcontracted the work.
The $21.4m Phase 1 was awarded under modification to contract M67854-07-D-5031 from the US Marine Corps Systems Command.
Phase 2 was awarded on 2 July for an additional $48.9m.
The purchase of the hardware for the installation work was $158m, bringing the total cost of the independent suspension upgrade to approximately $228m.
The upgrade is expected to be complete by February 2010.
